10 Reasons why you should visit Dubai – the Ultimate Vacation Destination
Wondering why you should visit Dubai?
Dubai is every visionaries’ dream, Dubai will take your breathe away. Literally!.
It is one of those places you visit and you’re like pinch me back to reality.
I tell everybody that Dubai is the future. Well, damn right it is. It is the city that out does itself in everything, it has the best, biggest, tallest, largest, most expensive, and highest of everything. Love it or hate it, it is the ultimate global destination for millions for a million reasons and more to come.
Dubai is one of those countries that you shouldn’t take off your vacation list because you have to keep coming to see the newest developments. We residents are constantly wowed by the development in the city, it literally happens within the snap of your fingers.
The reactions is always where the hell did this structure or bridge come from???? How did it not interfere with the traffic? O well, that is Dubai for you. It has a way of leaving you mesmerized all the damn time.
You don’t visit Dubai and feel like you just wasted your plane ticket. Nahhh… it’s one of those destinations you visit and tap yourself on the back and say every penny spent (because you going to spend a lot to enjoy yourself to the fullest) was worth it.
So, here my friends are 10 reasons why you should visit Dubai.
1. One of the most beautiful skylines and structures in the world
If you love all things architecture, then Dubai is the place to be. Dubai has some of the most beautiful structures in the world with amazing skylines. The city is the home of the tallest man-made structure in the world Burj Khalifa and jam-packed with skyscrapers, making an impressive city scape.
2. One of the safest cities in the world
Crime is almost non-existence in Dubai. Coming from a city that is not safe at all Lagos, I feels so good knowing that I don’t have to look over my head or hold my handbag with both hands. Even at 1am the city feels very safe and oh, you can misplace your wallet in Dubai and have it returned to you. Although, we hear of few crimes here and there but the UAE is very secretive about information to do with crimes and in most cases if not all cases they arrest the culprits. Leaves me wondering why this criminals even bother when there’s 99.9% chance of getting caught.
3. Shopping Paradise
Shopping is one of many reasons to visit Dubai, there are malls situated round the city with countless high-end and fast fashions brands, it is also the home to the biggest mall in the world- the Dubai Mall; the ultimate destination for retail therapy. The best part is Dubai has a month-long shopping festival with giveaways where shoppers can win cars and gold and also year round sales.
Out of the population of 2.7 million, only about 20% of the inhabitants are considered “locals.” The remaining 80% come from over 100 countries (led by India, Pakistan and the Philippines). This has generated a vibrant fusion of cultures. This diversity makes for a dynamic atmosphere and an unforgettable trip.
5. Foodie Heaven
Because of the diversity of culture – I mean up to 200 nationalities, there is abundance of food from different parts of the world. Being a tourist destination, there are restaurants situated left, right and center the city. Dieting in Dubai is almost impossible. Trust me! It’s the ultimate place to get a taste of everything as you restaurant-hop through the city. So, be prepared to indulge and gain a few more kgs.
6. Land of fun and adventure
You can never be bored in Dubai! There’s so much to do – just make sure you come with enough cash to spend.
• You can SKI – I mean who skis in the desert and oh! You get to hug penguins
• Go on a desert Safari
• Visit the world tallest building and get a glimpse of the beautiful city
• Visit an aquarium
• Visit the water parks and swim with dolphins
• Visit the old souq on an abra (local boat)
• Visit the gold souq aka land of gold
• Take a boat, yatch ride
• Sky dive and Helicopter rides
• Have dinner on the sky
• Watch the dancing fountain
• Hot air balloon rides
• Visit the theme parks
• Snorkeling, scuba diving and swimming around shipwrecks…
Just to mention a few… There’s indeed a long and wonderful list of activities to do in Dubai. I’ll have a special post for this soon.
7. Luxurious Hotels and resorts
Dubai has some of the most ostentatious hotels in the world. It is the home of the first 7 Star hotel in the world – the Burj Al Arab. It is situated on its own artificial island 280m from Jumeirah beach and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. Staying in the Burj does cost a fortune as it pampers its guests with a fleet of chauffeur driven Rolls Royce’s, a private beach, helicopter arrivals and much more.
The burj Kahifa hotel gives you a breath taking view of the city and the amazing dancing fountain display. The underwater suite at the Atlantis hotel in the palm and a lot more beautiful hotels with amazing views.
8. City of gold
Dubai is known as the city of gold – and there’s a good reason for it. Dubai is the biggest transit city for gold in the world with approximately 10 tons of gold being visibly present in the souk. The gold souk is a must-do on your to-do list if you’re visiting the city even if you have no plans of buying gold; just go and be wowed. You will leave the gold souk telling yourself different reasons why you have to make it in this life. This is every gold-lovers dream. The Gold Souk is one of the top destinations in Dubai for visitors. More so, you can get yourself a spectacular deal.
9. Phenomenal firework display
Like I said, Dubai is known to outdo itself – Its motor is ‘if the rest of the world can do it, we can do it better’! The New Year Eve firework display at the Burj Khalifa has become the focal point of the city’s celebration. The Burj Khalifa, The Atlantis hotel, The Palm and The World Islands has the most spectacular firework displays.
10. Man-made Islands
There are literally no words to describe the awesomeness of the man-made islands in Dubai. So amma just let pictures do the talking.
With this 10 reasons of mine, I hope I have been able to convince that Dubai should be on your travel itinerary? Dubai has so much more to offer than you might think, so pack your bags and get ready to Visit Dubai.
