Checking in: Life Update | What have I been up to really?

Warning: LONG POST! It’s been awhile and I apologize for that. So, here’s a Life update. A lot has happened and I am happy to share with my tribe.

Pssst! Notice anything different??

A new Blog Design Layout! Woohoo!

If switching my blog design every now and then isn’t a problem, then I don’t know what is. I’m just ‘designly’ insatiable: Issa problem.
I have a few guest writers on the blog – I am excited about this one. 💃🏽 Yay! And I am still opened to more: so if you want to contribute a post to the blog please feel free to contact me.

I haven’t been blogging for a while now so it’s only expected that my blog stats dropped. Sigh! Consistency is key to maintain or increase your blog traffic. Hopefully my new routine makes me stay consistent. Amen! 🙏🏽

Is it just me, or have you also noticed every other blogger has been on the low. It almost seems as though we are all loosing motivation. What’s happening?

And I am excited that Sharon of ‘this is Ess’ is back only that she’s more into Vlogging than Blogging. She left for almost a year without saying good-bye. I was heartbroken – literally! Her reason for leaving is totally relatable so she’s forgiven.

Fun Fact: She motivated me to start my blog.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’d notice I deleted all my 1000 and something… pictures. Honestly, its one of the toughest decision I’ve ever had to make. Btw, it wasn’t a one time thought; I’ve changed my feed 3 times this year and all the times I did, the thought of deleting all the pictures came by but I couldn’t get myself to do it. I mean, memories…

I felt stuck; I wasn’t posting as frequently as I’d love too. My busy schedule contributed also as I didn’t have time to take new pictures. Also, my indecisive nature, which I am not proud of, makes me love something today and hate it tomorrow. I just couldn’t decide what I wanted my feed to look like.

I knew I had to start over to move forward. So right now, I am back to the basic; use one filter, no cropping, no spaces, just post the picture as it is. And I promise I am sticking to this.

‘Don’t be afraid to start over; it’s a brand new opportunity to rebuild what you Want’

Funny thing is how everyone associates me deleting all my pictures to emotional issues – matters of the heart aka ‘man matter’🤦🏽‍😤. I would never ever make any rash decision because of a man. Never!

I have been posting 9 pictures in a day, just to build my feed to a reasonable extent and I’ve been asked if I’m ok! Why are posting so many pictures Tega? People of the world, I can post as many pictures as I want daily.

I deleted all my pictures they made assumptions, and asked why, I am posting consistently now is a problem. O Humans! I just can’t deal… 🙄🙄

I saved all the pictures btw. I have my pictures saved everywhere possible to avoid stories that touch. I have pictures as far back as 2009.

I am currently using an app called Planoly to plan my feed and schedule my posts. It’s amazing! I schedule my posts in the morning and it sends a notification for me to post when it’s time.

P:S – I have gained a 150 new followers for posting frequently on IG for the past few days. So, this is one way to increase your following and I am sticking to it.

I have been swamped with work for the last few months. At the moment, I am working on 12 websites and 2 personal projects, which I’ll be sharing soon and my full time Job. It has been hectic! This is the major reason I’ve been inconsistent with blogging. But then, life is about balance – I’ve gat to learn how to make it work! 🙃😔

I started my Masters in Business Strategy, Leadership and Change in Heriot Watt University in 2015 but I had to defer for a year because of finance. It’s a 2 year partime program. I’ve just 2 semesters left and by God’s grace I should be rounding up by April 2018 with only dissertation left. I can’t wait to be done!

I recently renovated my living room and I added a corner office, it’s now fully ready and I’m typing from my desk right now. Feels so… official! I kinda miss working from my bed though, but I’ll admit that I am more productive working from my desk.

I have been sharing sneak peaks of my interior design on my instagram story and some of you have requested I do a living room tour and yes! Your wish is my command. I put a lot of thought into this and I am very happy and proud of the outcome. Seriously guys, I am an interior designer at heart and I’ll be adding it to my CV.

I bought a fish and named him Oscar King.

I have wanted to own a fish for as long as I can remember. I finally bought a beautiful betta fish and he died after 4days 😫😩. God bless his soul! I feel like a terrible person, I couldn’t take care of a small fish. I read that his possible cause of dead was internal organs shock.

He was swimming sloppy and I decided to change his water and wash its tank. Immediately I put him back into the tank he died. Just like that! I cried o and my cousin couldn’t even believe that I’d be drawn to tears because of a fish. 4 days is more than enough time to grow sentimentally attached to a pet. RIP Oscar. You were deeply loved.

I bought live plants also. I have to water them every morning. So much responsibility, guys! Nahhhh, I ain’t complaining.

I bought a new camera – canon 200D from the recently concluded Gitex Shopper in Dubai. It is an electronics and gadget expo. I got a pretty good deal. It came with a 18-55mm lens, tripod stand, bag, Bluetooth speaker/flower vase and a 16gb memory card. I also got a 50mm lens. No more excuse of no pictures to post o!

I have over 6 libraries on YouTube for different music genre, which I’d also be sharing soon. I start my day with listening to my gospel library. Honestly that library is ‘Lit’ in a gospel way of course. I feel incomplete through out the day if I don’t start my day with worship.

I have a library called Retro with my favorite Nigerian artistes at the moment; Ric Hassani, Simi, Funbi, Nonso Amadi etc… Ric Hassani’s ‘only you’ is my Jam! That song puts leaves my emotions all over the place and I start building castles in the air ❤😍. Its that deep! Listen to it and thank me later.

I try to read ‘maximizing your potential by Dr Myles Monroe’ every morning and listen to some motivational messages on YouTube. I am clearly obsessed with that book. But it keeps me motivated and focused everyday. Asides that, I have been failing in the reading department. Any suggestions please? I need something new to read.

Guys! If you haven’t watched the series ‘This is us’, leave what you’re doing right now and go watch it. That series touched my very soul; I couldn’t stop crying all through. It gave me a new perspective to life. If you have watched it please share your thoughts in the comment box below. No spoilers here: just go and watch it.

Ah! Being Mary Jane is finally engaged. I loved this season and I am still mad at her mother for cheating. Totally unexpected! Power – amazing, Game of thrones – I literally have no words. It just hurts that we have to wait another year for episode 9.

I am so excited my favorite Nigerian web series are a back; this is us and skinny girl on transit.

Please recommend any good series to watch.

Arggh, still struggling with weight loss and diet. Nothing new to report! At this point, I leave it unto God. 😭😥

I bought a bicycle.

Honestly, if anybody had told me that I would be able to ride that bicycle, I’d say they’re lying. Man! It was a struggle. I was at the verge of selling the bicycle. But my kid bro said Tega you can do it, don’t give up! My friend tried teaching me the first 2 days but it was a total fail. I just couldn’t understand how someone will balance on only 2 wheels. In fact, I almost fainted 😂🤣. (Story for another day).

So, I went on YouTube and searched for ‘Learning to ride bicycle as an adult’. Apparently, my friend was teaching me the African way 😂🤣. The YouTube videos taught me to balance first and then paddle next. I tried learning to balance for 3 days and on the 3rd day (why does this sound like the resurrection of Jesus.), I found myself riding the damn bicycle. I was so unreal; I was jumping for joy.

If Tega can learn to ride a bicycle, then anybody can.

I can proudly say I have ticked off learning to ride a bicycle off my bucket list.

My friend, Kai, and I have been going to ride daily for an hour 30mins approximately 13km. It’s a good form of exercise. Its all fun until you have to ride up a hill.

In this post here, I shared that I am, still am and will forever be a morning person. I wake up at 2:30am daily and sleep at 10pm. It works perfectly for me!

‘Find out what works for you and stick to it’

Another thing to tick off my bucket list – only that this people wouldn’t let me be great. Getting a Dubai driving license is so expensive and difficult. It’s a business to them, which is unfair to us. The money I have spent already is enough to buy a fairly used car. I have completed the 40 classes; the next stage is the yard (parking) test. I have failed twice now and I am soooooo over it, but giving up is not an option. Owning a car in this country is a necessity.

I need motivation to go try hopefully the last time. I failed 2 out of 5 – garage (back) parking and parallel parking. Annoying thing is you have to pay for the test and 4 extra classes again till you pass. People please pray for me!

I am launching a business with my Partner Tega (we are namesakes) in a few weeks. It is a niched ecommerce business called ‘Work Wear’. Basically we sell corporate/office clothes. So, if you’re in Nigeria, please support your girl! You heard it here first.

My clothing line… coming soon! 💃🏽💃🏽

Married to Jesus! I literally have no social Life. I am too busy to socialize.

So overall, in the next 2 weeks I hope to complete my entire web design projects at hand because I need new projects – This month, I hope to be more consistent with the blog and manage my time effectively. I just have to pass my yard test – Biko pray for me!. I am back to snapping blog pictures, so expect more fashion posts. Yikes!

Let me know if you enjoyed this kind of Life update and if you would like to see one each month – if you do, I will see you at the November update! (There will be blog posts before that, so make sure you come back before then!).
